This is exciting and scary at the same time! I've never made videos before, I feel so weird seeing my self/hearing my own voice on the screen.Yikes! The video is not perfect and I'll end up subtitling the Norwegian version to do the English (because instead of repeating the same scene in 2 languages, I thought I'll record voice-over after...doh!) but I learned a lot, so it hopefully only gets better with every new one :)
But! This is not what you're here for, so we move on to the important stuff. We will sew a beautiful blouse with cap sleeves, front button closure and flounces together.
The pattern I used is from Burda magazine 08/2016 #103, you can make this in most kinds of cotton or viscose or other blouse fabrics.
The fabric I chose for this is 100% Egyptian cotton shirting fabric with texture in to colors: White and Yellow.
To make this blouse you need:
- The pattern obviouly: Burda Style 08/2016 #103 (it comes in regular sizes 36-44)
- 0.7 m of the shirting fabric in white.
- 0.6 m of the shirting fabric in yellow.
- Or 1.1 m in total if you prefer to make the blouse in one color.
- 7 small shirt buttons.
- Vlieseline G700 or similar.
- Sewing thread/overlocker thread.
This blouse isn't difficult to make but does require some patience. Burda calls it: Novice on the difficulty level scale, but I'd says it's at the end of that range leaning more towards medium. I've made a video in Norwegian on how to sew it and was hoping to make one in English too, but it doesn't seem like I'll get the time for that...I'll try to add English subtitles to the Norwegian version, but here it is:
I really like this pattern, it looks great, fits great and feels really good to wear.
This blouse can be used in many different ways, although the first thing that comes to mind is the business style of it. It goes well with most jeans cuts and many skirt styles, so you can easily dress it up or down.
At the end of the video I style it with:
1- Peach colored jeans from Zara and shoes from KappAhl.
2- Skirt from Lindex and shoes from LaRedoute.
3- Self-made skirt and sandals I bought in Moscow.
4- Chinos from Esprit and shoes from Charles & Keith.
5- Self-made culottes and shoes from KappAhl.
(All the store bought clothes are old, I almost didn't buy any clothes since I started sewing in 2014).
