Wrap dress...from another point of view

I've been intrigued by this pattern since I opened the instructions and saw how it's constructed and how you put it on. I loved the idea! Pleasure to an engineer's eye ๐Ÿ˜‚. I already had a piece of fabric that I bought to make a summer dress a couple of years ago and thought it'll suit this pattern.

This decision resulted in this dress ending up on my 2018 Make Nine list (finally one that isn't blue!), it's only later that it hit me that this is indeed technically a wrap dress, look!

So I'm entering this (last minute) for #sewtogetherforsummer as well ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I'm not even sure what this pattern is. I got it for free on printsew.com (which has the irritating minus of needing to use a special pdf reader to open their patterns...the worst pdf reader ever! But hey the pattern and the reader are free...). Guessing by the instructions and how it was presented on the site, it's potentially Style 2620 and as you can see I went for version B.

Their size measurement table is even worse than Burda's! But the final garment measurements printed on the pattern pieces themselves were good. I selected the size based on these and think it fits as it should. The sewing instructions were quite good though. The only change I made here is to cut one back piece on the fold instead of two, so that I had the outer piece as one on the fold, keeping the inner pieces as two with a center seam for turning them to the right side.

The fabric I used is the exact same as the one I used for my latest jumpsuit in different colors/print, with the same description: This is cotton! No, it isn't...there's loads of viscose in there. This isn't really an issue for me, I like viscose and use it often enough, it's just irritating to get lied to like that.

The fabric is soft and beautiful, drapes nicely and is breezy and nice to wear, I love the red color, and the little beige and white leaves print on it. I learned my lesson from last time and stay-stitched all the curved lines straight away and that helped with the final result.

I love it! I'm looking forward to wearing it and I'm half way through my nine makes. (I actually already made the fifth item, just didn't blog it ๐Ÿ˜Š. Yes, it's blue ๐Ÿ˜‹).

Pattern: Style 2620 (I believe) free from printsew.com
Fabric: Some kind of cotton/viscose mix from Hawaa (Cairo).
