Although west Berlin is more prosperous and you can clearly see that, east Berlin has so much more to offer when it comes to sightseeing and attractions, thus the thirs day of my stay was there as well, went to the Museum island to see Nefertiti in the Egyptian museum, turned out it was closed, but still I went through the old museum and the old national gallery (I like art galleries :D), then went to a building that somehow resembled Notre Dame de Paris to find out it's not a church anymore but acts as Schinkel's museum, basically sculptures stand all over.
The highlight of the day was the Berlin cathedral (Berliner Dom), beautiful from the inside, not overdone as some, with a lot of paintings in the ceiling, I loved how the light falls from windows high in the ceiling onto the different parts of the interior giving it a lively still a bit Gothic feeling, you can also go all the way up to the dome and have a great view of Berlin, awesome!
Walked around (the closed) Nikolai-vertel church, took a look at the New Synagogue and the holocaust monument and decided to call it a day. (written on 27sep2009)
